  • Yacht Insurance

History

The Newton Crum family has been sailing & boating for 3 centuries across the world, entering the marine & aviation insurance business 48 years ago. The boat insurance side grew to such an extent that this specialist company was formed exclusively for boat insurance. We never claim to offer the cheapest rates, rather, we pride ourselves on the tens of thousands of letters from clients who were so pleased with our claim settlements they took the time and trouble to write.

Operation

They administer the insurance on behalf of Lloyd's Underwriters including the collection & processing of premiums as agent for the insurer under risk transfer arrangement - insurance premiums received shall be transferred or deemed transferred to the Underwriter immediately on receipt. Note, where they are unable to quote but believe that Nautical Insurance Services Ltd, with whom they have an introduction arrangement, do have facilities they will -unless requested by you not to- forward your enquiry to them requesting that they (Nautical Insurance Services Ltd) obtain quotations without obligation or charge for that service.

Claims

It is their earnest endeavour to ensure claims are handled fairly and processed and settled properly which is why with every policy & renewal you receive full claim instructions so you know what to do before any accident or loss even arises. They have their own dedicated claims department acting on behalf of Underwriters to process claims in the fastest possible way with its own switchboard (01424 718811) hours m-f 9-1 and 2-5, and 24 hour fax at 01424 445043 plus a claim form is available 24/7 on their website at www.newtoncrum.com click [claims] . Further, they confirm that Underwriters must not unreasonably reject a claim but must give careful consideration to the circumstances.

Fees & Charges

There is no fee charged by them in providing proposal & detail forms, quotations, or once you are a customer in effecting amendments or endorsements or in dealing with any claim. The premiums we quote are fully inclusive which include both their annual non-refundable documentation charge of £10 and insurance premium tax. The premium they quote is the price you pay - there are no hidden extras.
